England international right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold missed is set to return to the Liverpool starting XI in the Premier League for the first time in a month ahead of the away match at Fulham. The Reds will be the guests of the Cottagers in one of the week twelve games in the league and Trent is certain to return to the starting line-up after recovering fully from a calf problem.
His last start in the league came at the start of November during the away trip to face title rivals Manchester City. Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced off with the injury during the closing minutes of the game and his place on the right side of the Liverpool defence was taken by veteran utility player James Milner.
Trent Alexander-Arnold missed the England matches last month because of the said calf injury despite being named in the squad by England manager Gareth Southgate shortly before the Manchester City game was played on November 8. Trent Alexander-Arnold was one of the four right-backs named in the England team.
The other right-backs are Atletico Madrid player Kieran Trippier, Chelsea star Reece James and Manchester City defender Kyle Walker. Liverpool Academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold missed the England games against the Republic of Ireland (international friendly), Belgium (UEFA Nations League) and Iceland.
Trent Alexander-Arnold returned from injury for the last league game at home to Wolves. He was a second half substitute for young fullback Neco Williams as the Reds ran out 4-0 winners during the game. Trent was provided an assist for the final goal of the game. He returned to the starting XI for the Champions League game at the home of Danish outfit FC Midtjylland on Wednesday night. The game ended a goal apiece and it was a dead rubber as the Reds had already qualified for the next stage.
