Although I will add that the notion of Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard being exposed as ‘average’ is pretty laughable, and hardly how they’re likely to be remembered by football fans the world over. In truth this probably reveals more about your desire to stick the boot in to the England team and its fans than your ability to objectively evaluate players.
Nevertheless, I do agree the situation re: the national team in general is v embarrassing, but the FA doesn’t reflect the views of all fans.
A couple of very good questions. As a fan of the England football team who appreciates the amazing changes in football made by the many nations who enjoy the sport, to see the England team steadfastly refuse to be involved with this change, and to seek to progress and innovate, the question ‘how does it feel’ can be answered in one word: frustrating.
I have a question for you English F.A: Why do you sack managers and always look for someone else to blame when England flop at tournaments. Also applies to English fans. Is it not embarrassing that English players get more money than Spanish, German and Italian players(who have successful leagues and national teams) but England haven’t been to a tournament final in 50 years! How does it also feel that players like Rooney,Gerrard,Lampard are shown up for how average they are when playing for Eng.
Totally gutted I am English but live in Antalya where England are playing and for for the first time in 3 years have to be in the UK when they are playing!!
Taylor you absolute wanker!!!!!
Byram’s had to withdraw through injury, Luke Garbutt’s replaced him.
I think this:
Goalkeepers: Sam Johnstone, George Long, Connor Ripley.
Defenders: Sam Byram, Eric Dier, Jon Flanagan, Jamaal Lascelles, Danny Potts, Adam Reach, John Stones, Tom Thorpe.
Midfielders: Ross Barkley, Gael Bigirimana, Conor Coady (Liverpool), Larnell Cole , John Lundstram , James Ward Prowse.
Forwards: Chris Long, Harry Kane , Alex Pritchard , Luke Williams .
